We were saddened that our first hive didn't make it through our first winter. However, we were prepared for this to happen from all of our beekeeping reading.

Excitement was still in the air, and we had already ordered two packages of bees. Then we were also able to pick-up a nuc from a fellow beekeeper, that wasn't going to need it after all. So our 2008 season was off to a great start--Our second year began with three colonies to manage.
