With great zeal, we delved into this adventure as a mid-life hobby during 2007, starting with one colony of packaged bees. However, we have been told that we can no longer call ourselves "hobby" beekeepers. Our official status is that of part-time beekeepers, per Dr. Medhat Nasr, who recently spoke at the Vermont Beekeepers Association meeting.

In 2011, we hope to have healthy colonies that build up strong, and produce well, so that we have another great fall harvest. We will continue to offer honey extraction services. Thanks to all of you that entrusted us with getting your honey from the comb to your buckets during 2010.
Scott is currently pursuing certification through the Master Beekeeper Program conducted by Cornell University Apicultural Extension Program. He and Valarie are also part of the Vermont Beekeepers Association EAS 2012 committee, as the VBA is hosting the Eastern Apicultural Society in 2012.
Regardless of the stings and the volatile nature of this avocation, we enjoy our honeybees and look forward to the 2011 season!
Thank you for stopping by,
Scott and Valarie |
